The Adrian District Library and the Lenawee District Library are excited to join forces and welcome musician Jim Gill here in August for two events: a family concert and early childhood educator's workshop.
The Silly Dance Contest, List of Dances, I Took a Bath in a Washing Machine. These are just a few of musician Jim Gill's songs for young children. Perhaps you have danced and sung to Jim's music at a library storytime. Or are an educator who uses Jim's play-inspired music in your classrooms. Or maybe you've never heard of Jim Gill but are looking for fun, free, play-inspired activities for the young children in your lives. Then read on.
Family Concert
We are excited to announce that Jim will be performing a free library sponsored family concert on Wednesday, August 1 at 7:00 pm in the Merillat Room at The Centre.
Each of Jim’s concerts is an active sing-along and clap-along. He bangs out energetic rhythms on his banjo while everyone claps, jumps, dances and even sneezes along. The concert is filled, of course, with songs and stories from Jim’s award-winning recordings and books for young children. Check out some of Jim's music here or here.
Some of you may recall that Jim Gill performed to a full house at The Croswell in 2009. You won't be disappointed if you come.
So, put the date on your calendar and plan on joining the two libraries as we welcome Jim Gill.
Early Childhood Educator's Workshop
In addition to being a musician, Jim Gill is an early childhood education professional. He will be presenting a workshop for Lenawee County early childhood educators at the Adrian District Library on Thursday, August 2 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm.
His workshop is titled: "A Joyous Way to Learn: Music Play to Promote Readiness, Literacy, Math Development and Inclusion"
The workshop is Free but registration is required and space is limited. Check here for more details and registration information.
Jim Gill's visit is sponsored in part by Michele, Eric & Carole Silberhorn in memory of James & Lois Silberhorn
