  1. Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia

    Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. It’s a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. If you or someone you know is affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, it’s time to learn the facts. This program provides information on the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, the disease stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available to address some symptoms as well as Alzheimer’s Association resources. This presentation will be led by Michelle Phalan from the Alzheimer's Association. Registration is requested for this event; call the library at 517-265-2265 to sign up.

    The Census determines where federal funding for things like libraries and schools should go by counting how many people live in a household. Help get an accurate count by attending our Census Party! We will have computers available for filling out the Census, light refreshments, and an opportunity to play with our virtual reality goggles. Extra computers will be available throughout March and April, but snacks will only be served during this event.

  3. When Amelia Came to Michigan

    “When Amelia Came to Michigan” is the real life story of Amelia Earhart’s adventures in Michigan. She was here more than 25 times promoting the aviation industry and opportunities for women in this field. The lecture and visual presentation begins with her childhood at the turn of the century, her family life and education, early flying experiences, the world records and her 8 years of adventures in Michigan. Amelia’s first visit to Michigan was in 1928, after her first transatlantic flight. She came to promote TAC Airline passenger and airmail services. She set 3 women’s speed records at the National Air Races on Grosse Ile and was a test pilot for various aircraft. She sold the first Autogiro to the Detroit News and WWJ Radio. In September of 1931 she crashed at the Michigan State Fairgrounds. She christened new model cars for the Hudson Motor Company. She was here to cut the ribbon for the opening of the new Continental Airport. Presented by Al & Dave Eicher of Program Source.

The Five Wishes is a unique document that talks about your personal, emotional and spiritual needs, as well as your medical wishes. Join Hospice of Lenawee as we explore each of these wishes and discuss the importance of Advance Care Directives.
