March is Reading Month:  Celebrating the 150th Birthday of Laura Ingalls Wilder

    All of the libraries in Lenawee County will be featuring programs and activities throughout the month of March.
    Ask for the county-wide flyer at the circulation desk.

    All month in the Youth Services Department: a Laura Ingalls Wilder-inspired craft and coloring pages.

    March 2 (Thursday) 6:30 pm - Women on the Prairie
SHU Professor of History Julieanna Frost will present some of the unique challenges to the pioneer women that relocated to the Great Plains after 1870.  Dr. Frost will focus on the conditions in the Dakota Territory where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived from 1879-1890.

    March 11 (Saturday) 1:00 pm - Saturday Afternoon at the Movies
Relive the beginning of the "Little House" era with the viewing of the pilot movie that began 9 seasons of the popular television series.  Enjoy a "Little House" treat.

    March 16 (Thursday) 6:30 pm - Adult Crafting Night
        Lemon Verbena Feed-Sack Sachets (Season 1, Episode 2)
        Sew together this simple sachet with a pure and natural fragrance.

    March 23 (Thursday) 6:30 pm - ADL Book Club
Discussion of Laura Ingalls Wilder: a biography by William Anderson [see author visit below]
        While written for the younger reader, this biography is a good introduction to the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Readers are encouraged to explore additional resources on Wilder and other pioneer women of that era.  [Book lists are available]

    April 8 (Saturday) 1:00 pm - Author Visit - William Anderson
As a college student, Anderson was a summer intern at the Ingalls' family home site in De Smet, South Dakota, where he conducted tours, did research and assisted with museum operations.  He has written or edited 25 books of history, biography and travel.

Book Sale

Used book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Adrian District Library.  All proceeds benefit the Library.
Ongoing book sale:  check out the Friends book sale and information kiosk near the front entrance of the Library.
Annual book sale:  April 13, 14 and 15 (Thursday thru Saturday)  Lower level Community Room

    Thursday 10 am - 7:30 pm; Friday 10 am - 5:00 pm; Saturday 10 am - 2:30 pm
